Re: Story: Hardware monitoring is critical! Unique files will save me! (I hope)

362 GB copied. 9,186 files could not be processed. (Check Log) Problem: How do I find and try the failed files again? They're listed in the text file log but not noted in the actual program, so I need to manually go through the text file or write my own program to retry the copying the files. I firs...

Re: Story: Hardware monitoring is critical! Unique files will save me! (I hope)

UGH. Copying froze at 209GB. Tried pausing but that didn't complete. Disconnected and reconnected. Now speed 3 MB/s. Now zero again. Health 3% I'll stop and try to copy directly without the windows shell... Now saving and exporting the file lists. UGH! I just noticed that the default selection is &q...

Re: Story: Hardware monitoring is critical! Unique files will save me! (I hope)

Good news. Took three hours to re-scan 7 USB drives (10 million files in 21.8 TB) and found 415 GB of unique files on the failing 5TB drive. Small enough that I can copy them to the nvme drive on that computer. Now copying the the files. Hard Disk Sentinel Pro reports 158 uncorrectable errors. Still...

Story: Hardware monitoring is critical! Unique files will save me! (I hope)

My story: I am just starting to scan my mess of old USB drives. I first scanned 4 and then added three more and everything seemed fine. When the computer went to sleep and wouldn't resume, I shut it down, disconnected the drives and restarted. Hard Disk Sentinel always pops up when I start my comput...

How do you folks use virtual folders?

How do you folks use virtual folders? For me, because we can't select files for later deletion when the drive is connected, virtual folders don't look useful until I have completed my big deduplication task and have clean backups that are unlikely to change. Then I could compare that static backup t...

Feature request: Make virtual folders real.

I don't have enough power supplies, cables and USB hubs to connect all of my USB hard drives at once, but it would be most efficient to dedupe them all at once. (I also don't like my source and backups all plugged in at the same time for long periods.) Use Case 1: I have 6 USB drives but only 2 USB3...

Re: Feature Request: List inaccessible/skipped folders.

I'll check the log file. An interim solution would be a warning message that states "Some folders where inaccessible. These are listed in the log file." I suggest that it would be a worthwhile tab because I suspect that there's people who have spent hours de-duplicating drives only to disc...

Re: Feature Request: Show the number and size of the single & duplicate source files

Yes. That would work. In exact mode the min and max would be the same.

Thank you for all of your replies. I won't reply thanks in every post, so that there's not more msgs for you to review.

Feature Request: List inaccessible/skipped folders.

I am comparing backups from various old computers, so sometimes I don't have access to a folder but there's no way for me to know that folder was skipped. I assume that DC can see the folder because I can see it in File Explorer but I can't see the contents until I, as admin, click the folder and re...

Minor bug report: Exclamation mark yellow triangle stays present after rescan with drive re-attached.

I was testing the behavior with removing USB drives. When the USB drive is removed, DC places a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark beside both the drive and the folder. When the USB drive is reinserted, and then the "Refresh List" button is pressed, the yellow triangle disappears fro...
