Re: file hash cache, delete only older hashes?
Thanks, but it is not about the file size. It's about the time it takes to add more hashes, the bigger the file gets. Even on an i9 13th gen. machine with 96 GB of RAM it takes several minutes when e.g. 1,000 new duplicate hashes need to be added. Deleting older (by ID) file records is something I s...

file hash cache, delete only older hashes?
My file hash cache DuplicateCleaner5_Pro_Cache-MD5.data is getting too big - very fast. More than 1.5 GB at the moment! But I don't want to clear the cache completely every time. Is there a way to delete only data, which are older than e.g. a month? Keeping only the latest few weeks of data, that is.

How can I edit presets?
There are different presets, such as
for video files.
I would like to add some more formats (extensions) to this string.
How can I do that?
Tried to edit DuplicateCleaner5_Pro_Settings.data, but this results in an error message.
Code: Select all
*.mov;*.avi;*.mp4;*.mpg;*.wmv;*.flv;*.3pg;*.asf

Replacing dupes with hardlinks or softlinks
Is there a way to achieve this directly with Duplicate Cleaner 5?
If not, this would be a feature request from my end.
And...
...if not, can somebody help me how to achieve this using Duplicate Cleaner 5 in combination with a script or a 3rd party tool, whatsoever.

Re: I wish to remove extension-free files from every folder group
Did you already try a combination of selections under 'Mark by group' - in the Selection Assistant? If you cannot find a solution in the end, maybe you could post some example file names for me or others here to test with: Trying to find a combination of settings, which does the job... ...you want t...

Re: Problem with sorting
Well, for me this works:
I first e.g. sort (all files found) by name,
next, I sort by group.
Result: In all groups, files are now sorted by name.
I guess the same procedure should work for you, when it comes to sorting by images widths.

Marking all duplicates in each group, except those with the lowest number
Let's say I have duplicate groups like this: Group 1 Picture_01.jpg Picture_55.jpg Group 2 Picture_4.jpg Picture_13.jpg Group 3 Picture_23 Picture_35.jpg Picture_47.jpg How do I use the Selection Assistant, so that I e.g. mark those pictures in a group with the highest number(s) ? The ones, I printe...
