You can by marking all the files that have the extension you want to remove, then filter by group having marked files and then using the filter you have shown above. However notice that it a priority filter, which means as shown above it will mark all the files except the ones with the shortest file...

It has happened to me with some corrupted files I had. Try to start only scanning a folder and add them in small groups so you can understand what makes it crash. Staring with smaller folder will also make the scan faster and still save some progress as cache. if you can't even open it try reinstall...
