Re: Pause only one disk while continuing to scan the other disk

I wasn't looking at the original context. Now that I think about it again, some scans were being paused to improve disk performance, but the scans being paused can also include a disk that isn't being used by another instance, so I wanted to be able to only pause scanning from disks that other insta...

Re: Pause only one disk while continuing to scan the other disk

That might increase the CPU usage in theory, but running multiple scans on the same HDDs at once will increase turbulence of the actuator and reduce disk efficiency. If it's an SSD, the flash storage won't be nearly as much affected by reading multiple different areas at once, but in the case of M.2...

Re: Isolating folders by name

Say you want C: to be your "repository", & it will get its data from c:, itself, & also from k: & z:. So if you sync from k: to c: & from z: to c:, adding files that do not exist on c:, that will get all your trains running (i.e., c: should have a complete set of your file...

Inconsistent version numbers will result in immense confusion

For the subversion 13 out of 5, the MSI installer file, and the entry in Settings > Apps, reported as 5.0.0.13 while the program itself reported 5.0.13 in the Home tab. The Microsoft Store version reported as 5.13.0 in the Home tab within the program. Now the subversion 14 out of 5, is reporting as ...

Re: Scrollbar update causes heavy fog when scrolling with two fingers

It now scrolls clearly and easily, with the scrollbar updating continuously when dragged. There is no more toggling between foggy and stuck, it now does both! This is fixed in the Duplicate Files tab of 5.14.0 / 5.0.14 / 5.0.0.14 or whatever the actual version number officially is.

CRITICAL: Scrolling in left navigation pane randomly selects folders to add to scan list

Click to select a batch of folders in the left sidebar of the Scan Location tab. Scroll up and down with two fingers or the wheel, and the batch selection will be dissolved, replaced by random selections spread around. Clicking the right arrow button adds the random selections to the Scan Location l...

Restrictive CPU usage constrains productivity and wastes tons of time and data

Because the Search Indexer in Windows 10 is sloppy enough to index exclusions and prevent external devices from being safely removed, I now use Duplicate Cleaner in a Windows 11 22543 virtual machine on Linux, since the Search Indexer finally was fixed recently. While indexing exclusions, encounteri...

Re: Hash cache doesn't notice when files are replaced with different data in filename collision

Maybe the CPU hashing wouldn't have an effect on slowness if Duplicate Cleaner used a normal amount of CPU, but Duplicate Cleaner is so restricted with CPU that even with a very slow HDD, the CPU will be responsible for how long it takes.
