It turns out that I needed to not "check for updates" and download version 5. My version 4 key didn't work on version 5 !

Duplicate cleaner pro will not accept my licence key.
Licence key recovery page does not recognise my email address.

Like the original poster, I am having trouble with file deletion. Also like them, i have tried all of the troubleshooting steps suggested in prior support threads, and this one (check DC options, file permissions, unset read only, run as admin, etc.).
