Thank you for your answer. AFAIK both documents were encoded as UTF-8 by Google while converting a Google-Document to a text file.

The following two text files img-001200.txt and img-001300.txt failed to match even at 50% similar (Regular mode, similar content). IMHO they are much more similar than 50%. Thank you for your answer. So, is this a "brute force", simple comparison? A 80% value means that 80% of the pixels have exactly the same value? Nothing like the solutions mentioned on this stack overflow "image comparison - fast algorithm" post?

Could you provide some info about how Image Mode works? The manual states that "the actual images are visually compared" - what does this mean?
