Re: Almost No support from Digital Volcano for Duplicate Cleaner

There are hundreds of different ways of using the tool. No particular way is the definitive one. It's a huge area: people run courses on how to effectively clean up collections of personal files, many using Duplicate Cleaner (google: photo organizing course) For example: https://megabytememories.com...

Re: markin files to delete

If you are unable to mark a file for deletion, either by clicking on the checkbox or using the Selection Assistant, this means the file is in a Protected folder. You can tell this by the padlock icon next to the file name You can unprotect a folder tree by right-clicking on the row and selecting the...

Re: Almost No support from Digital Volcano for Duplicate Cleaner

Yep - I need to add more videos. There's only one of me so I tend to spend most of the time updating/fixing DC and working on the upcoming TextCrawler 4 and Duplicate Cleaner 6. There are videos for version 5 here: (not linked from main site) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLggEYHmSWbu5r3HK9v...

Re: Deduping a large photo disorganized collection

Looks like it's having trouble connecting with the drive, or there is a Windows issue.
If it's not possible that the drive is disconnected (see if you can still acress the files) try unchecking 'via Windows shell' - this tries an alternate way to move the files without asking Windows to do it.

Re: find duplicate video lenght

Video Mode
Video match settings->Ignore Content
Checkmark "match length" and set tolerance.
Don't set any other criteria and that should do what you want.

Re: Problem with setting "External only+Master"

"- When I set this to "No", no dupes are found at all, even though there are dupes in folders A" - This is correct - you are saying you don't want to find duplicates in folder 1, and folder 2 is External only. "When I start scanning for duplicates, I would expect that in fol...

Re: Why does DV choose a smaler file with a smaller bitrate over bigger file and a higher bitrate?

It's there in the Selection Assistant- You want to checkmark "Smallest file sizes in each group" and "Bit rate" - "Lowest/blank". This will put a cross against the smallest values, marking them for deletion. You can use the arrows to re-order the 'Preferring to mark' li...
