Re: Duplicate Cleaner Pro 4.0 Freezes on EVERY Mark for Deletion
I am actually experiencing similar symptoms, many hangs when dealing with a large cache (900MB). I have had bigger caches in the past, and not that hanging behavior with is most visible when marking many files, such as in the folder dup. But one the hangs (being patient the marking do occur, but sof...

Command line parameters suggestion
With hash databases increasing in size, the probabilities of malformed errors appear to be increasing, or they become increasingly precious without regular back-ups (so that a malformed can at least be replace by last good bkp). Since database location can be stored in ini file as user preference, I...

Re: Error: database disk image is malformed
I was late to read your reply. This is sound, to separate settings from hash cache. The hash cache is, in my mind, the interesting bit where not everything has to be recomputed (or alternatively, one can go from smaller scope of drive "surface" to bigger, i often go from very restricted to...

Re: Error: database disk image is malformed
My best guess is that: There is a master database that is opened in read-only mode at the start of each scan. Any new items found during a scan are added to a fresh session database. After the scan is complete, the session database is merged into the master database and then deleted. The master dat...

Re: Error: database disk image is malformed
The database will still persist between sessions - there won't be any difference to the user! I am also not sure, how to understand a fresh database each time that persists. the advantage of the persistent database, is that files with hashes or prehashes (fasthashes?) already computed (i assume, it...

Re: Error: database disk image is malformed
I thought the database was a good idea. i just had to have backups, and be careful with hardlinks. after hardlinks, need to rescan. i have not changed my machine for a few years, now, and their is time and heat avoided with that hash database. the benefits are for too few, the trouble for too many? ...

Re: Error: database disk image is malformed
Hello, i using this thread to which i subscribe, to ask if there is a way before sending DC into a new scan to check for database corruption. would there be a progression in corruption, or is it 0 or 1, corrupt or not. I am backing up the database very often, each time i scan a sizeable part of hard...

i obviously vote for that.DigitalVolcano wrote:They won't run at the same time -
I'm looking at adding a feature where if the custom database location is used (database.ini setting) - you will be allowed to run as many multiple instances as you like.

Re: Hard-link confusion
The program doesn't currently support creating short-cuts (only hard-links). This is on our to-do list. If you have tried to implement symbolic links in version 4.1.1 as intended in another topic (edit here later for ref), then short-cuts should be a by-product (same care about non-symetry, one dir...

Re: Error: database disk image is malformed
I have typically database file bigger than 1TB, so when i get this error, i wonder if there would be a way to have a history of the database file (maybe just the previous one, and a diff patch) so that when one session render the database corrupt (i have no idea why i get this error, but suspect har...
