What version of DC? 4.0.4 Are hard links being counted? No Are you scanning ZIP's? No Are you using Preview? Didn't realize that was an option, I don't think I am. Are the files stored on a network (as opposed to locally)? I have done it on network files but have noticed this issue on local files as...

Not really. Technically yes, the scans finish but they blaze through the 1st 80% or so then gradually get slower and slower and I end up waiting longer for the last 5% of scanning than I did for the first 80%... but it does finish. Thoughts?

Search slows down to a standstill every time?
The past few days DC has been starting off fine but then get slower and slower the longer it runs and in many cases never finishes (something like the Dichotomy paradox?). Sometimes it has been with many files, other times quite a few (just a few hundred) large files, I haven't really been following...
