NewUser	Hello, I searched my whole music folder (about 60 GB) on an external hard drive and it found 1000s of duplicates (from multiple times merging libraries). I used the selection assistant select the "oldest" and "all but one" in each group. I reviewed the selections and tried to move them to a new folder. It said "cannot move 873 files" so I tried deleting them to recycle bin. It said it was able to do that. Now I have 5 GB of music, more folders than there are files in them and nothing in the recycle bin. I looked and the new save location has empty folders where all the duplicates were supposed to me moved to. Please someone help. This was my wife and my entire music library from the last 10 years. How can I recover these files?

DV	Hi,Sorry you are having trouble- Have you tried getting the folder size (right-click, properties in windows explorer) of the 'moved to' folder? The files might be way up in the directory structure somewhere, even though you see a lot of empty folders when browsing it. I don't know why the recycle bin is empty, did you try refreshing it? Are you looking in the central recycle bin (desktop) and not the one on your windows drive? You could also try looking at the hidded Recycler folder on the external drive itself.

I don't know why the recycle bin is empty, did you try refreshing it? Are you looking in the central recycle bin (desktop) and not the one on your windows drive? You could also try looking at the hidded Recycler folder on the external drive itself.

You may also get the list of files by using a DIR command in a DOS Command Prompt window (Start / Execute : CMD). In Windows Explorer, move to the moved to folder. Copy the path from the address bar. In the DOS Command Prompt window, type the hard drive letter after the prompt, for instance: C:\...\Windows>D: That is: type "D:" and press Enter. The Prompt will change to the hard drive (D: for instance). Then move to the moved to folder by using the Change Dir command. D:\>CD D:\Path\To\The\Moved\To\Folder Type "CD " and then right-click and Paste the copied folder text into the DOS window, and press Enter The Prompt now changes to that folder: D:\Path\To\The\Moved\To\Folder\> Now type the following command, followed by Enter: DIR /a-d /s (or simply DIR /s) This should list all subfolders and files contained within them in the moved to folder in one pass.

Claus	It is always a bad idea to use such programs without doing a backup first. There is always a big chance to lose something.

MinnesotaGeorge	a darn good and handy program. I love it since all my hardrives are less than 50gigs and I have to keep them culled. We will have to nominate you for some award/reward. You should put an option in the start page asking for a donation of $9.95 via PayPal to cover research and development and updates.
