You can use the Selection Assistant button to help select the duplicates. Don't delete anything unless you are sure of what it is though...

how would you know which duplicate files to remove? If you select all will it delete needed files or will it keep you from removing needed files?

It has some protection against removing needed files - however you should only run DC against your own files (pictures, docs, etc) - things only you know whether or not you still need. It shouldn't be used to delete operating system stuff (program files/windows folders, etc).

Hmm... Been getting a similar message for ages & can't seem to find a solution. In my case it says the files are protected and cannot be deleted. I've tried altering permissions etc. I've even used 'unlocker' to see if it throws anything up but it pretty much always tells me no files are locked. I'm using 32 bit XP Pro SP3.

I can manually delete any file from the selected directory.
